Photographer of Influence

Image
Photographer of Influence By: Cameron Wright This picture was taken on June 5, 1989, Jeff Widener was located at the Beijing Hotel on the sixth floor. It was exactly one day after the Tiananmen Square massacre where democracy protestors protested on the plaza and were massacred by the Chinese government. Jeff Widener was sent to take pictures of the aftermath of the massacre. As he was taking pictures of the poor bloodied victims, scorched busses, and bicyclists, a column of tanks rolled out of the plaza. Suddenly, a man holding shopping bags stepped in front of the tanks waving his bags around and not willing to move. The tanks attempted to go around the man, but he kept walking in front of the tanks, briefly climbing on top of one of the tanks. Jeff thought that the man would get killed, but the tanks would not fire. The man was quickly whisked away but he became a global hero, a symbol of resistance to regimes all of the world. Jeff Widener stated that one day he hopes

Un-Selfie

Image
Un-Selfie By: Cameron Wright This image was my inspiration for my self-portrait image. This assignment, we were tasked with finding an image that inspired us and making our own version of that image in a self-portrait style. I set my phone on a timer and then jumped and laid flat in the air. Then, I cropped the image to look like I jumped straight up and that the room was sideways. I also tuned the image, adding brightness and highlights and taking the contrast down slightly. The selfies are just me making a bunch of different faces and some of them are kinda weird to go along with my portrait. I took them sitting in my chair in my room. I used fotor to make the selfies go in the grid and the portrait go in the center. This is the original version of the shot in the middle which was taken with a worse phone camera.

Objects at Home

Objects at Home By: Cameron Wright Due to the Coronavirus, we are in quarantine and have been forced to use our phones as cameras. Taking a picture with an iPhone is easier, but it does not look as good especially if you have an older model. For the first picture, I decided to throw a paper airplane out of a window and take a picture of it. I use lines and patterns to add to the piece compositionally and in the editor, I cropped and rotated the image to make use of the line on the left and added +50 glamour glow. For the second picture, I took a picture of my keyboard. I tuned the image, adding more contrast. I also added glamour glow and put on grainy film. Finally, I put the vignette style on the picture.

15 Minutes in Two Spots By: Cameron Wright       In this assignment, I was tasked with going to two different locations and taking pictures for 15 minutes each. I had to take as many pictures as possible within that time frame. The goal was to cultivate creativity in image composition. I think I succeeded because I took good pictures that were creative and were in two different locations. I choose my four favorite photos and put them on my post.

The cookies I baked were very good and my family and I enjoyed eating them.

Poetry Photoshoot

Image
Poetry Photoshoot This assignment was to make an Adobe Flash website that was based off a poem that each student picked out. I chose the poem "All Nature Has A Feeling" by John Clare because it talks about nature a lot which is something I could photograph and that I like. I took photos of the woods, fields and brooks because that is what is talked about in the poem. I enjoyed this assignment and feel that I have completed the task successfully.

Day in my Life Video

Day in my Life Video In this project, I was tasked with making a slideshow showing what I do in my life both inside and outside of school. I was able to have pictures of Mexico because I went to Mexico over break. I enjoyed this project because I got to take pictures of my friends and take pictures in Mexico. In this project, we learned how to tell stories with photos, which is an important skill to learn in photography. I think I successfully fulfilled the task because I learned how to tell stories with photos. See the video here
